PGA Teaching Professional and Director of Instruction
Phil is a Class “A” PGA Teaching Professional with over 25,000 hours of golf lessons taught. Phil works with a wide variety of players from multiple Professional Mini-Tour winners, elite high school and college players, AJGA and Junior NEPGA Tour winners, multiple Club Champions across the North Shore to your casual weekend golfer.
Phil grew up on Bass Rocks Golf Club where he remains a member today. He graduated at the top of his class from the Golf Academy of America in Orlando, FL where he played professionally on the Florida Golf Tour and Moonlight Tour while earning a degree in Golf Complex Management with a duel emphasis on Golf Instruction and Club Fitting. He served as an Assistant Golf/Teaching Professional at Salem Country Club for 5 years before leaving to become the Director of Golf at Rowley Country Club for several years. In 2010, Phil helped start the largest indoor golf center in New England and was the Director of Instruction there for 6 years. In 2016, the Phil Cornetta Golf School partnered with Sun ‘N Air Golf Center in Danvers, MA to run their golf instruction program. In 2024, the Golf School moved to Paradise Family Golf in Middleton to have access to covered and heated Trackman Teaching Studios. We are now able to offer private lessons and golf clinics year-round regardless of the weather with intergrading Trackman and video analysis technology to offer the highest quality instruction available.
Phil’s innovative approach to teaching, his great communication skills and his blend of technology and drills are what make him one of the premier golf instructors in Massachusetts. All of his lessons include video analysis, Trackman 3D Doppler Launch Monitor Technology for ball flight tracking and impact analysis, BodiTrak which measures ground reaction forces and the use of training aids/drills when needed.

Jon Gagnon, Assistant Teaching Professional
Jon Gagnon joined the Phil Cornetta Golf School Instruction Team in 2024. Jon played on the golf team at Peabody High School and at Salem State University before going out as a tour caddy on the LPGA Tour from 1990-1992 where he caddied for LPGA Hall of Fame member and Tour founder Marlene Hagee. After a brief stint as a tour caddy, Jon worked as an Assistant Golf Professional at Fairwood Golf and Country Club in Seattle, WA where Jon helped run the Junior Golf program and taught private lessons to the membership. In 1995, Jon moved back to MA after the birth of his first son and he regained his amateur status shortly after in 1997. Jon had a very accomplished amateur career with multiple Top 20 finishes at the Massachusetts Mid Am and Public Links Championships. Jon also won multiple Club Championships at Gannon Golf Club in Lynn and at the Meadows in Peabody. Jon is excited to utilize his golf experience and knowledge to teach at the Golf School. He is patient, encouraging and flexible to ensure a customized teaching experience for any age, experience level, or learning style.
